What is the National Honor Society?
The George Ranch High School Chapter of the National Honor Society is a group of students selected on their service, scholarship, leadership, and character. Students are required to maintain a 103 average or more and devote at least 8 service hours to the community, 4 service hours to the school, and 8 additional hours to a place of choice (a total of 20 hours per semester).

The George Ranch chapter of the National Honor Society dedicates its students to excel in academics, participate in the school and community, and be an active leader in society. The NHS develops students to be ready for the real world by having them work in the community to build character and foster prosperity.

How does my child get into NHS?
Any student who meets the requirements for scholarship (maintains a cumulative weighted GPA of 103 or above) will be eligible to apply to the National Honor Society. The student should then receive an application during their junior year of high school, and if selected, will later be inducted into the organization. In order to be selected, a student must demonstrate good character, leadership, and a desire to render service to their school and community.

When are the meetings?
The National Honor Society meets every first Wednesday of the month in the auditorium. Students can choose to attend either the morning meeting at 7:30 a.m. or the afternoon meeting at 3:40 p.m.
